Celebrating a Decade of Hope: 2025 Year In Review
As we come to the end of 2025, we’ve been reflecting on an extraordinary milestone—10 years of hope. For a full decade, you have been changing the way the world cares for orphans, and your generosity continues to make a lasting impact.
Because of you, children around the world are experiencing the safety, stability, and love of family. As we celebrate this special anniversary year, we’re honored to look back on all that you made possible in 2025.
SONORA, MEXICO
In 2025, we marked five years of family care in Sonora—and the movement continues to grow. Since signing our original agreement in 2020, nearly 80 children have been welcomed into the homes and hearts of foster families. Kids like Alexander, Sergio, and Manuel know the security of a loving family instead of life in an institution.
We’re grateful for the strong partnership we’ve built with the state. This year alone, our team provided more than 100 hours of family care training for government officials. And during a recent visit, we were honored to present the Governor with an award recognizing Sonora’s leadership in protecting vulnerable children.
We look forward to sharing even more stories of transformation from Sonora in the coming year.
MICHOACÁN, MEXICO
Thanks to your support, 2025 was a year of meaningful progress in Michoacán. In fact, more children were placed into family care than ever before! Children like Fernando and Mauricio are growing up in safe, nurturing families because of you.
Our team continues to strengthen relationships with government leaders and the community. From local radio appearances to public awareness events to participation in discussion panels, momentum is building. One of our foster moms even had the opportunity to speak at TEDxMorelia, inspiring others to learn more about family-based care.
NUEVO LEÓN, MEXICO
In April, we renewed our two-year agreement with Back2Back Mexico, continuing our shared focus on reintegration and prevention in Nuevo León. Together, we’re helping children transition out of orphanages and return to their biological families—and strengthening families to prevent separation before it happens.
Because of your generosity, more than 20 children were able to reintegrate with or remain safely within their families this year. What an incredible impact.
JALISCO, MEXICO
In November, we were thrilled to announce our expansion into Jalisco—our newest location in Mexico. After months of conversations with government officials, it became clear that Jalisco was eager to partner with The Hope Effect to strengthen its foster care program. In November, we signed a new agreement to help more children in Jalisco grow up in safe, loving families.
This contract creates a formal consultation model that allows us to help shape foster care systems from within the government—ensuring more children are placed with families sooner and spend less time in institutional care. We can’t wait to share more from Jalisco in 2026!
MAE SOT, THAILAND
In October, we shared more exciting news—another new location in Southeast Asia through our partnership with Global Child Advocates.
Together, we’re expanding family-based care in Mae Sot, Thailand—helping more children grow up in safe, loving homes. Beyond placement, our work includes strengthening families, intervening in cases of trafficking and abuse, supporting school enrollment, and leading community trainings on child protection.

Did you know that U.S. Christians donate more than $2.5 billion every year to orphanages around the world? Yet research is clear—children grow and thrive best in families, not institutions. That’s why we’re committed to promoting a better way of orphan care to church leaders, congregations, and compassionate individuals across the U.S.
This year, our U.S. team attended multiple conferences and events, sharing this message with thousands of people. In 2025 alone, more than 50 churches learned about the harms of institutional care and the life-changing impact of family-based care. The movement is growing—thank you for your role in helping share our mission and vision.
