Mae Sot, THAILAND
partnering for change IN mae sot.
Mae Sot sits on the Thailand–Myanmar border, at the center of one of Southeast Asia’s most vulnerable populations—displaced and undocumented families fleeing conflict in Myanmar. Tens of thousands of migrant children are at risk of institutionalization, trafficking, and exploitation.
In the midst of so much uncertainty, one truth remains: children don’t need institutions—they need families. And together, we can make that happen.
We have joined forces with an experienced partner, Global Child Advocates, to help more children in Mae Sot experience the love and safety of a family. Together, we will expand the kinship and informal foster placement program, giving orphaned and vulnerable children a chance to thrive in a home environment.
But this work extends far beyond family placement. Our approach includes family preservation support, intervention in urgent cases of trafficking and abuse, facilitating school enrollment, and leading regular community trainings on child safety and rights.
This ensures children are not only placed in safe families but are also protected, educated, and supported holistically. Because of your generosity, more children in Mae Sot will grow up knowing they belong.
